Sameh is a licensed Professional Engineer in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec as well as in Egypt. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Structural Engineering from Ain-Shams University in Cairo, and earned his Master’s Degree in Applied Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Windsor. He has also received a Doctoral Post Graduate Scholarship Award from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada.

Guirgis is the first named inventor on six U.S. Patents, three Canadian Patents and one European Patent. He is the inventor of the “Resonance Fatigue Fracturing Technology, a breakthrough technology related to the production of combustion engine parts. He is also the inventor of the “Structural Shield System”, a system with extremely high absorption capacity to impactive and impulsive loads. The system can be used to protect Nuclear Power Plants and other structures from hazards similar to those of September 11, 2001. The system is considered to “appear technically feasible” by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission.

In connection with his work, Guirgis has also proposed a new property of concrete. The details of this scientific work were explained in an article that was published in the Journal of Nuclear Engineering and Design.

In addition, Sameh is a founding member and the Secretary of the Board of Deacons of Saint Mina and Pope Cyril VI Coptic Orthodox Church, Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec.
