Sheref is the Progressive Conservative Member of Provincial Parliament for the riding of Mississauga-Erin Mills. He is the first Canadian of Egyptian descent to be elected to the legislature in Ontario’s history. MPP Sabawy and his wife Dr. Mary, a family physician, are the proud parents of two sons, David and Christopher. A successful Computer Network & IT Technologies Professional with over 30 years of experience, MPP Sabawy has worked for some of Canada’s largest companies and a number of major financial institutions. He has also managed a successful consultancy business, and has taught as a Professor of IT at both George Brown and Centennial Colleges.
In addition to his professional experience, MPP Sabawy has been an active member of the Canadian Coptic community, and has participated in several community events, both as a candidate and as an elected MPP. The community recently made history when MPP Sabawy introduced His Grace Anba Mina, Fr. Angelos, and a large gathering of proud community leaders and members in the chamber of the Ontario Legislative Assembly—the first time the Coptic community has ever been recognized in such a way.
